What will the conference entail?

A unique opportunity to learn about all aspects of employee volunteering from some of the top people in the field. You will be introduced to a select group of experts, handpicked by International Service, the oldest volunteer sending agency in the UK. Through looking at cases of best practice and analysing the latest techniques in planning, communications, marketing, and monitoring and evaluation, they will provide you with all the information you need to make the most of employee volunteering.

Anybody interested in employee volunteering, including Corporate Responsibility (CR), communications, marketing, finance and human resource professionals, as well as CEO’s and board directors.

Jane Carter has been Chief Executive of International Service since 1987 after joining as a Fundraiser in 1984. She saw it through its re-launch as International Service after separating from its parent body United Nations Association and its’ relocation to York in 1990 where it has established a growing reputation and is the only National development NGO in the North of England.

Joe is an expert economist and a renowned conference facilitator, with a passion for volunteerism. He has acted as a consultant to several government departments, published 18 books and over 200 business and practitioner journal articles, and has successfully completed the London Marathon for the last three years running.

Elisabeth Hoodless was made a Dame for services to volunteering in the 2004 New Year's Honours. She is responsible for 110 000 volunteers aged 3 to 106, over seven hundred colleagues, and a budget of over £30m. She is also president of Volonteurope (European network of volunteer agencies) and serves on the board of Innovations in Civic Participation.

Mike Wooldridge OBE has been World Affairs Correspondent for the BBC since June 2001. He has worked at the BBC since 1970 in various roles including, East Africa Correspondent, Southern Africa Correspondent, Religious Affairs Correspondent and South Asia Correspondent.  He went to Uganda in 1968 as a journalist with VSO, working for the Ministry of Marketing and Co-operatives.

Mark joined the Overseas Development Administration (ODA), the Government department responsible for Britain’s aid to developing countries, in 1985.  He has spent his career in international development, since 1997 in the Department for International Development (DFID) created that year from the previous ODA by the incoming Labour Government. Mark was involved in the finalisation of the first White Paper on International Development for over 20 years, and then spent 2 years as the Head of the DFID team responsible for liaison with the European Commission. The department has grown rapidly in recent years and is in the midst of major organisational change, much of which is Mark’s responsibility.

Michael Kelly is an internationally renowned expert in environmental risk accounting and reporting. Prior to joining KPMG, he spent seven years as a senior programme manager for the United Nations environment programme.
