'Building our Common Future'            the new White Paper on International Development

The UK government's Department for International Development (DfID) has released 'Building our Common Future', a new White Paper outlining how the UK government will deliver development aid to the world's most vulnerable and fragile countries.

International Development Secretary, Douglas Alexander, said:

“We have made great strides over the past decade in tackling     global poverty but there is much still to do.

The economic downturn has had a devastating effect on the     developing world, whilst millions live surrounded by conflict and     violence. And we must face up to the havoc climate change could     cause in the poorest countries."

The White Paper focuses on issues of prosperity, security, and climate change. These are some of the biggest challenges faced by poor and vulnerbale countries, but affect all of us - including the UK.
