Burkina Faso covers an area slightly larger than the UK, with a population of 16.9 million people. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. In Burkina Faso disabled people are the most affected by poverty, exclusion, discrimination and deep rooted traditional prejudices. This leads many people with disabilities to beg on the streets to earn money for themselves and their families.
For over 30 years International Service has given assistance to local organisations working for the rights of both women and people with disabilities.
