International Service Ireland was established in 2002, and is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.

Based in Dublin, we work hand-in-hand with International Service, sharing a common vision, mission and values.

International Service Ireland recruits professional and experienced Development Workers from Ireland and overseas to contribute to the developmental needs of our partners who are working towards long-term solutions for poverty reduction and sustainable development. We place Development Workers with local partners from civil society and local authorities to help strengthen technical and organisational capacities, facilitate skills-sharing, and promote learning.

In Ireland, we promote the concept of Global Citizenship through campaigns and initiatives based on experiences and expertise from the field. The aim is to increase understanding and awareness of development issues in Ireland and abroad by engaging more people actively in promoting social change.

International Service Ireland’s global disability rights initiative Putting the World to Rights, aims to increase awareness of disability issues in the developing world, and to encourage Irish people to engage with them. The initiative includes a series of seminars taking place across Ireland that are based on the real life stories of people with disabilities in Africa and Latin America. Seminars are particularly geared towards disability organisations and the community/voluntary sector.

International Service Ireland has three Strategic Priorities for the period 2008 to 2010:
  • Disability and Development
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Development Education
