How to apply
To apply to volunteer with International Service follow these steps:
Stage 1
Begin your
online application by selecting 'International Service'
Stage 2
In your application tell us:
- why you want to take part in the programme
- what you think you have to offer in terms of your skills, interests,
and personal qualities
- what you think you will gain from taking part
You will also provide important background information.
Stage 3
We will let you know within 10 working days if your application has been successful, and whether you will progress to the next stage.
Stage 4
If your application has been successful, you will be invited to
an assessment day. This is so we can learn more about your skills, interests and experience and find the most suitable placement for you.
We want to see that you are committed to helping others, and we look for a range of things like how you work with others, that you can be flexible and adaptable, and that you will learn something by being involved with ICS.
Stage 5
We will let you know the result of your assessment day, and let you know whether or not we will offer you a volunteer placement.
Stage 6
We will then work on building teams of volunteers from our successful candidates. You will be informed of your country and local partner in time for your pre-departure training.
When should I apply?
Placements depart in June, September, January, and April.
If you wish to be considered for a placement in June or September 2012,
apply now as we are currently holding assessment days.
You can still apply now for placements after September 2012, but assessment days will be held later in the year.
