These are our local partners involved in ICS placements from 2012-15.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS

This children’s rights organisation has 132 offices worldwide.
In Bolivia, they have 22 centres in 8 cities reaching more than 14,000 children. The organisation aims to build families for children in need, and supports children to build their own future, helping them participate in the development of their communities.

Volunteers will support them in developing their 3 programmes of work:
  • Strengthening Families develops strong families and communities so that children can grow up healthy and safe. Children represent 42% of the population in Bolivia, and poverty puts many at risk of domestic violence, street work, exploitation and abuse.
  • Foster Care builds host families for children who have been orphaned or abandoned. Children are placed in a safe environment where the right conditions for physical, emotional and educational development.
  • Entrepreneurial Education trains young people in occupational and technical areas so they can create small businesses and take control of their own livelihoods.

Child Fund

Child Fund supports more than 13 million children in 34 countries.
In Bolivia, they support children by working in partnership with 47 local community organisations.

Their programmes of work protects children and young people from discrimination, abuse, harassment, negligence and exploitation:
  • Early Childhood Development works with families, community organisations, governments and other partners to ensure children reach school-age in a healthy way, with a good diet and support for becoming intellectually curious and socially confident.
  • Education uses existing resources and opportunities to ensure that 'primary education' is not just about attending school, but helping children develop other learning and life skills.
  • Youth helps young people play a part in addressing community issues, and helps them become leaders by supporting the formation of clubs and committees.
  • Health uses research and evidence to promote positive changes at household, community, and government levels. 
  • Nutrition a programme of support and education for pregnant women, new mums, and children aged 0-5.
  • Income generation trains and helps families to strengthen their economic situation, with a focus on the wellbeing and security of children.
Volunteers will support Child Fund in developing education modules, strengthening the skills of 5 local community organisations, and developing opportunities for extra-curricular education.
