As a European Solidarity Corps volunteer, you will be living and working in Aman, Jordan supporting local NGO IDare for Sustainable Development to improve the engagement of young people and women in the labour market and decision making in their communities. Based in IDare's brand new Creative Hub, you will be supporting in the delivery of socio-economic empowerment projects with the local community of Aman. As a volunteer you will support the general delivery of this project, as well as implementing additional activities to achieve wider participation.
You will work as a team, whilst individually supporting an independent activity, communication or research project to enhance understanding of the barriers that prevent women and young people in Jordan from engaging in work and business. You will be exposed to the life, values and customs of Jordan, enabling them to immerse themselves in a new way of life, and developing a sense of cohesion and unity with the local communities.
Involvement in this project has strong potential for improving the employability and citizenship of the participants, including those with fewer opportunities. Of the 9 volunteering placements, 5 will be ringfenced for participants who experience fewer opportunities. All participants will be provided with an opportunity to work in a varied, professional and committed environment.
